1952년 아일랜드에서 태어나

13세때에 기타를 독학으로 마스터 하고 영국으로 건너가

70년에 베이시스트 Brush Shields등과

그룹 스키드 로우(세바스찬 바흐의 그룹과는 다른 스키드 로우)를 결성.

[Skid Row], [32 Hour] 등의 앨범을 발표했다.

 

 73년 자신의 이름을 내건 게리 무어 밴드를 결성,

Grinding Stone 앨범을  내 놓는다.

 

84년 발표한 Victim Of The Future 는

소련의 KAL기 피격 사건을 규탄하는

내용이 담긴 'Murder In The Skies'를

수록하기도 했다..

 

 

같은 해 2월엔

영국과 일본에서 또 3월엔 스칸디나비아 반도와 유럽 일대에서

순회 공연을 벌이면서

소련의 만행을 신랄하게 규탄하기도 했으며

실황앨범 We Want Moore! 를 발표하는

정력적인 창작 활동과 의지를 보였다.

 

85년 글렌 휴(Glenn Hughs)가 참여한 Run For Cover 앨범이,

86년에는 [Rockin' Every Night]가,

87년에는 신 리지 시절의 음악적 동료이자 친구인

필 리뇨트(Phil Lynott)를 추모하는

     Wild Frontier 를, 그 뒤 After The War 가 출시되었다..

 

90년대에 들어서면서 그의 음악적 방향은

블루스적인 쪽으로 치우치기 시작해

다시금 그의 음악적 역량을 마음껏 표출한다.
